During 15 years as head of Public Relations activities for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO), Woodward directed national PR campaigns such as the opening of the $60 million Max M. Fisher Music Center, the announcement of Music Director Leonard Slatkin and Honda's ASIMO robot conducting the DSO. Woodward coordinated media relations for national and international touring activities, managed radio and television broadcast content, supervised New Media initiatives and helped bring Federal grant money to Detroit for the DSO Archives Development Program. She developed and directed public relations tactics to generate unprecedented visibility for more than a dozen different DSO educational and community outreach programs.

 

Woodward's awards include a 2006 Telly Award for “Our Story: the DSO” which aired on WDIV-TV 4 and a local Emmy Award for “Random Acts of Music with the DSO” which aired on Detroit Public Television in 2007. Woodward’s editing and production experience includes Performance magazine, the DSO’s 64-page program book/magazine produced six times annually, James B. Nicholson’s Chairman’s Newsletter and DSO Web site and social media content. She was project manager and editor of special publications including Stages: the 75th Anniversary of Orchestra Hall and English language translation of the biography of conductor Neeme Järvi.

                     

Prior to joining the DSO, Woodward was Director of Public Relations for Olympia Arenas, Inc. (OAI), management company of the Fox Theatre, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Arena, Meadow Brook Music Festival, The Second City and other venues. Her responsibilities included corporate communications, media relations and publications. At OAI, Woodward served as sports information director for The Detroit Turbos and The Detroit Drive, managing media coverage for athletes and collegiate athletics events (NCAA Final Four; Great Lakes Invitational College Hockey Tournament). Additionally, she provided public relations consulting services to contract clients including the Gem Theatre, the Royal Oak Music Theatre and touring theater productions.
